The Sons of Norway Norse Valley Lodge was founded in 1969 by a group of ambitious people that canvassed the northeastern part of Wisconsin, especially the Appleton and Fox Valley area, with the intention of finding eager lodge members. From the time when organizing began to a year later, the lodge had been organized, officers installed, and 134 enthusiastic members were recruited.
The organization is a non-profit whose mission is to promote and preserve the heritage and culture of Norway and provide quality insurance and financial products to its members. You do not have to purchase any insurance or financial products to be a member.
The lodge meets monthly from September through May, usually on the third Saturday of these months at 6:00 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, located at 3009 North Meade Street in Appleton. Lodge meetings often include outside speakers on topics such as Scandinavian genealogy, travel, culture, and food.
Special events include marching in New London’s Saint Patrick’s parade, a Syttende Mai Constitution picnic in May, a Lutefisk and Meatball dinner in early November, and Julefest, a Norwegian Christmas celebration in early December. The lodge financially supports Fox Cities children to attend a two-week Norwegian cultural immersion camp in July north of Eau Claire. They also are active in other civic volunteer activities in Northeast Wisconsin.
Join them for their 2026 Lutefisk and Meatball dinner to be held on Sunday, November 9th at 4:30 pm at LaSure’s Banquet Hall, 3125 South Washburn Street in Oshkosh. Full dinner, desert, and entertainment costs for adults are $33.00, children ages 7 to 12 are $15.00, and children 6 and under are free. Reservations and checks can be sent in care of Lodge Treasurer Corey Olson at W5907 Sweet William Drive in Appleton 54915 no later than October 31st.
