Lyme disease (lyme borreliosis) is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, which is typically transmitted to humans through the bite of infected black-legged ticks but can be contracted in many other ways.
The disease was first identified in the town of Lyme, Connecticut in 1975, when a group of children displayed symptoms of arthritis. Lyme Disease has been reported in all 50 states and all parts of the world. Lyme disease can affect various body systems, including: the skin, joints, brain, nervous system, and heart. It’s very important to take Lyme Disease signs seriously, even if they are not always supported by doctors.
Grab your green, bring your family, and Run Like A Warrior!Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 16, 2026, for the 4th Annual Lyme Warrior “Run Like a Warrior” 5K. This family-friendly event will take place in Greenville, WI, starting at 9:00 AM, and is designed to raise awareness and support for those battling Lyme disease.
Event Highlights:
- Run or Walk: The 5K is open to participants of all ages and fitness levels.
- Wear Your Green: Participants are encouraged to sport their best green attire for a chance to win a special prize for the “Most Creative Green Outfit”.
- Meet a Local Author: David Bugenhagen, author of Humbled, will be on-site signing and selling copies of his book, with a portion of the proceeds directly benefiting the event’s mission.
- Prizes & Fun: Registration includes a free T-shirt, and the day will feature raffle baskets and awards for the top three finishers.
