I am not a journalist or a reporter! Just a die hard Packer fan who grew up in Green Bay and have now resided in Grand Chute for about 27 years! During Packer football season I hope you will enjoy, ‘One Fan’s Opinion’ of our Green and Gold!
At the time of this writing, the Pack has just advanced to a season record of 4-1-1! As food for thought, of 32 teams in the NFL, there are currently no undefeated teams and only THREE teams who have 1 loss on the season. This includes the Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Indianapolis Colts.
Many Packer fans have expressed frustration over how the team is performing this season. Are the Packers dominating teams in most of these 4 wins? Arguably, no, they are not. But, there are also many, many teams(and fan bases) in the NFL that would happily change places in the standings with a one loss team. The National Football League is unequivocally the best league in pro sports in terms of having a system in place to promote parity amongst the competitors. The league’s salary cap system, player free agency after 4 years in the league, and the annual draft process are designed to keep the playing field equitable between all teams. This leads to the following reality. Winning in the NFL is HARD!
My encouragement to the fans who feel the Packers need to win more convincingly would be two fold.
First, it’s a long, long season. We are barely 1/3 of the way through this gauntlet process. Win now, get good later is a great perspective to remember. The best teams in any NFL season are at their healthiest and playing their best football as the playoffs begin. In the meantime, stack wins.
Next, enjoy the ride. The Packers have been picked by the Vegas odds makers in all 6 games to start this season. The Packers are picked to win by the Vegas oddsmakers for the next 7 weeks at the time of this writing! How many other teams in the NFL can make that same claim? Not many!
Vince Lombardi said perfection was impossible. But in chasing perfection, his teams would catch excellence. I pull for our Pack to shape their season around this mantra. Like always, every fan is entitled to their opinion. This has been One Fan’s Opinion! Go Pack Go!
