THE TRAVELING MAN
If you are looking for a truly relaxing idea for a short getaway, hot springs are a wonderful way to recharge. When you soak in waters of 114 degrees and then move to 68-degree water, the process instantly relieves joint pain and is incredibly invigorating. The refreshing experience of moving from pool to pool with different temperatures seems to massage your muscles, and a trip to the sauna is equally stimulating.
Our travels brought us to Bozeman, Montana, where the many pools were highly invigorating. Soaking under the stars with a band playing, combined with the different colored lights of the pools, was a true adventure. The attached campgrounds meant it was just a short walk back to our site and the campfire, which made the trip enjoyable for the whole family. While there, we were told about another hot springs that was reputed to be the best: The Springs Resort in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

The Springs Resort is a sprawling complex featuring a beautiful riverwalk along the San Juan River. It boasts pools and waterfalls of all temperatures, fed by the Mother Spring, which is known to be one of the deepest in the U.S. With adult-only pools and family-friendly pools, geothermal formations, several restaurants, and staff available at every turn, this was truly a five-star resort.
Along the way, we stopped at the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. Built in 1929, the bridge—known as America’s Bridge—spans the impressive Royal Gorge. It is an epic marvel of engineering, extending 1,260 feet long and 956 feet above the Arkansas River. The Gondola, Skycoaster, Elk Park Amphitheater, and hiking trails make this a must-stop. You can spend time at the bridge-view BBQ or have some Dippin’ Dots ice cream.
