How the “Buttonhole Sistas” Are Baking the World a Little Brighter

When it comes to spreading community cheer, some heroes wear capes, and others wear their Great Grandma’s vintage aprons.
Last summer, local trio Brooklyn, Finley, and Quinn, affectionately known as the “Buttonhole Sistas”, first made hearts melt (and mouth waters) when they delivered fresh-baked cookies to the Grand Chute Police and Fire Departments. This season, the girls reunited in the kitchen with a new secret mission: a surprise operation aimed at bringing a little sweetness to the dedicated care-takers at Brewster Village.
Brewster Village isn’t just any senior care facility to these girls; it holds a special place in their family’s history. Having watched their Great Grandpa receive warm, compassionate care there, the girls all agreed that the staff members who look after local seniors deserve a proper “thank you.”
So, with a shared goal and empty mixing bowls, the planning began. The verdict? Four dozen custom cupcakes, crafted with plenty of love, and just a little bit of beautiful kitchen chaos.
Flour, Sprinkles, and Great Grandma’s Aprons
Outfitted in their Great Grandma’s treasured aprons, the “sistas” set to work getting the mixer and ingredients ready. As with any true baking masterpiece created by enthusiastic young hands, strict perfection wasn’t the goal, joy was.
Eggs were cracked (mostly making it into the bowl), oil and water were measured, and batter was lovingly scooped into paper cups. Once cooled, the real fun started: frosting smoothed, sprinkles flying in every direction, and cheerful handwritten “happy cards” crafted for residents in need of a smile.
Four dozen decorated cupcakes later, the delivery was ready to roll out.
After delivering their sweet treats and spreading joy through the halls of Brewster Village, it was time for the bakers to celebrate. Breaking from their usual post-baking pizza ritual, the girls opted for an Asian buffet instead, leaving onlookers amazed at just how much sushi three determined young human dynamos could pack away.
In a world that often feels fast-paced and disconnected, the Buttonhole Sistas remind us of a simple truth: you are never too young to make a difference. Whether it’s a batch of cupcakes, a hand-drawn card, or just showing up with a smile, small acts of kindness have a funny way of rippling out and brightening an entire community.
