I am not a journalist or a reporter! Just a die hard Packer fan who grew up in Green Bay and have now resided in Grand Chute for about 27 years! During Packer football season I hope you will enjoy, ‘One Fan’s Opinion’ of our Green and Gold!
At the time of the writing the Packers just wrapped up their battle with the Denver Broncos. Needless to say, things are a bit somber. Over the past month, the Packers have had a great 3-1 run in their games against the Vikings, Lions, Bears, and Broncos! Had it not been for the injuries that came along in the past month, the recent production would have all of us making our plans for the playoffs and maybe more! But, losing Micah Parsons, TJ Wyatt, Zach Tom, and Christian Watson certainly put a damper on the cheer that would have come with this 3-1 stretch.
So, now what? Pack it in? Give up? Well, that’s an option! Or, we can see what’s left in the tank up at 1265 Lombardi Avenue. Sounds like Christian Watson and Zach Tom’s injuries may not be season ending. If they can get these two players back, it certainly helps the cause. Can the next tier of players step up in the face of the season ending injuries? Well, we are gonna find out!
A few years back in 2009/2010, the Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl! During that season, the team lost 16 players to the season ending injured reserve. Yes, 16! This year’s season ending injuries are game changing players that have been lost. No doubt about it. But, every team has injuries. The game is simply not a question of ‘if’ on injuries it’s a question of ‘whom’ and ‘when’.
The players being called upon to step up and fill in the gaps are professional football players. These are not college or high school players. Situations like this can be the moments when players just need their opportunity to breakthrough and impact the game!
Every NFL season goes too fast. You blink and the season is over and we are stuck in the middle of the doldrums of another Wisconsin winter. Enjoy what’s left of the season for better or worse!
