Pastor Jim Vyleta
In my young life I have now celebrated two 50-year American golden anniversaries; the 200th and now the 250th.
When I consider how much has changed over the last 50 years trying to anticipate the next 50 is completely mind-boggling!
What really brings the speed of change home is the thought of dropping my beloved grandparents into this day and age.
It took 250 years to get here, the fireworks have ceased, the parties are over and the race is on to our tricentennial.
Over the years I’ve given my children a history lesson on times past when the world moved at a slower pace (when phones were mounted on a wall, unsupervised play happened outside and the only internet was the fishing net inside my boat)
As Americans let us ask ourselves this question; “50 years from now looking back , ‘What will you be glad you did?’ or a more potent way to look at it ‘What will you wish you would have done?’”
Recognizing the ever-changing world my children are living in and the one my grandchildren will experience I offer to them and everyone these 4 steps:
- Embrace change with anticipation knowing your Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ will never change and He knows the future, so joyfully place your life in His hands and embrace the next 50 years as an adventure.
- Know and understand you have been created in the image of God and always let this truth guide you through a world of artificial intelligence and alternate reality.
- Defend the human rights of all mankind to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, be generous and make a difference. Insulate don’t isolate.
- Protect and engage in free speech with those whom you may agree or disagree and always in a loving manner.
