FOR GCG
What started over twenty years ago as a modest gathering of worshippers has exploded into a summer phenomenon. Today, Lifest stands as one of the nation’s premier Christian music festivals, turning Oshkosh into a high-energy hub for tens of thousands of families, youth groups, and music fans every summer.
Known affectionately as “A Party with a Purpose,” Lifest isn’t just about the bass drops and stage lights; it’s a mission-driven powerhouse dedicated to strengthening lives and spreading hope through music, service, and community.
The Sunnyview Transformation
Every July, the Sunnyview Expo Center undergoes a radical transformation. The fairgrounds become a vibrant, multi-stage celebration where chart-topping artists and high-energy concerts meet quiet worship moments and prayer spaces. It is a rare, truly multi-generational experience a place where grandparents, parents, and children find common ground between seminars, family activities, and service opportunities.
A Mission Without a “Close” Date
What many attendees don’t realize is that once the stages are packed away and the crowds leave Oshkosh, the work is only beginning. Lifest is the flagship event for a year-round ministry that invests in communities across the globe.
Through Quake Youth Events, the organization hosts weekend gatherings nationwide that allow students to encounter the Gospel in a high-energy environment. On the digital front, their G3 initiative provides a safe, encouraging online gaming community, a vital positive space in an often-toxic digital landscape.
The ministry’s reach extends directly into the classroom through the Dignity Revolution, a school-based program that tackles the heavy lifting of mental health and bullying prevention by promoting cultures of value and respect. Meanwhile, founder Bob Lenz continues his international speaking tours, bringing a message of hope to schools and churches worldwide.
Impact That Lasts
The ripple effect of the festival is felt deeply here at home. Local businesses and churches see a significant economic surge during festival week, but the true legacy is found in the families who have made Lifest a cherished tradition, passed down through generations.
As organizers look toward the future, they remain committed to expanding the festival’s impact while preserving that welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere that has defined it since day one. With its unique blend of music and year-round ministry, Lifest continues to stand as a Wisconsin tradition that brings people together for something far more lasting than a summer concert.
