Across three meetings in late July and August 2026, the Grand Chute Town Board authorized a formal contract offer for a new Town Administrator, swore in new emergency personnel, approved major infrastructure and street projects, and ratified storm disaster recovery efforts.
Executive Search & Personnel Actions
- Town Administrator Search: On July 29, following closed-session candidate interviews facilitated by Public Administration Associates (PAA), the board voted unanimously in open session to authorize PAA to proceed with a formal contract offer.
- Swearing-In of Officers & Firefighters: On August 6, formal oaths of office were administered to Police Officer Hunter Mallek (2024 Officer of the Year at Fox Valley Metro) and Firefighters Christopher Clancy and Chris Piet.
Licensing Decisions & Public Input
- Operator’s License Denial: On August 6, following testimony from applicant Chelsea Simpson and her father regarding her recovery journey, the board voted 4-0 (with 1 abstention) to deny her operator’s license. Police Chief Mass advised that insufficient time had elapsed since recent open criminal charges to demonstrate full rehabilitation under statutory guidelines.
- Public Concerns Raised: On August 18, resident Ron Torns voiced concerns regarding a Class B liquor license application for Urban Air, the town’s cash position ($71.7 million) relative to wheel tax discussions, and the prioritization of the Perkins Street overlay project over lower-rated streets.
Public Safety Broadcast & Disaster Response
- IACP TV Film Feature: On August 6 and 18, the board approved a $27,300 agreement and corresponding budget adjustment to feature the Grand Chute Police Department in the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) TV film series at its annual conference in Orlando.
- Storm Disaster Proclamation: On August 6, the board ratified Municipal Disaster Proclamation TBR 19-2026 following severe storm and tornado damage on July 27, commending town staff for swift cleanup operations.
Planning, Development & Infrastructure
- Clarity Ridge Development: The board approved street vacations for Clarity Court (TBR 18-2026), single-family rezoning (Z-02-2026), a land swap CSM, and the preliminary plat (PP-02-2026) for the Clarity Ridge subdivision north of West Evergreen Drive.
- Public Works & Lighting: On August 6, the board approved $54,586.77 for street light relocations in the Ridgeview reconstruction area. On August 18, the board awarded the Carter Woods Park lighting contract ($52,000+) to the low bidder and approved the 2026 Perkins Street mill-and-overlay pavement preservation project.
- Development Agreement Amendment: On August 18, the board approved an amendment to the Solhaven Grand Chute LLC development agreement, transferring McCarthy Road sidewalk installation responsibilities to the town’s reconstruction project while deducting the estimated cost from the developer’s potential incentive.
