My name is Michael Janke, and I am your district 25 Outagamie County Supervisor representing the heart of Grand Chute. I am honored to be given the opportunity to write a monthly blog on activities and events that impact our community.
Election Integrity the November 5th election went very smoothly with no issues reported on election day itself. The issues seen on the first day of early voting (Oct 21) were caused by the unexpected volume of people voting. This overwhelmed the election software and caused major delays in printing the labels required to place on the ballots. Quick thinking by Kayla Raatz (City Clerk Grand Chute) averted the long delays seen at other county polling locations. Otherwise, we saw record turnout.
Just a reminder, there will be a primary on February 18th and a general election on April 1st. On the ballot will be the Grand Chute Town Board Chairman, Town Supervisor seats, a statewide referendum (regarding whether or not we will add Voter Identification requirements into the state constitution), the head of the Department of Public Instruction and to fill an open seat on the state Supreme Court.
Vending Machines While you were at the Town Municipal Building voting, you may have seen one of the two public safety vending machines (the other being at the County Courthouse). These machines distribute gun safety locks, Narcan and other safety products. There is discussion regarding adding a third machine outdoors.
