I am not a journalist or a reporter! Just a die hard Packer fan who grew up in Green Bay and have now resided in Grand Chute for about 27 years! During Packer football season I hope you will enjoy, ‘One Fan’s Opinion’ of our Green and Gold!
The bulk of training camp is over. Two of the three Packers’ preseason games are in the books. So, what we do we know? Probably not a whole lot more than we did last month before training camp had begun! Preseason games are not much of a predictor of what the regular season will yield. A few years back, the Detroit Lions went 4-0 in preseason games. Those very same Lions went on to a winless 0-16 regular season that year! Point is, those of us observing the Pack from the couch or the bleachers at Packers practice don’t exactly know what the coaches are evaluating. Let’s not write the 2025 team off as hopeless and let’s not buy our Super Bowl tickets. Let’s just enjoy the ride that’s about to begin in early September!
Now, here are a few things from training camp that I think I know!
2025 1st round draft pick wide receiver Matthew Golden looks …legit! Above and beyond his lightning speed, he appears to have excellent hands and is picking up the offensive scheme quickly. Golden may be a star in the making!
2024 1st round draft pick offensive lineman Jordan Morgan spent most of last season injured. In full health so far this season, Morgan looks worthy of last year’s first round pick. He is going to push Rasheed Walker hard for the starter role at left tackle for the season.
2023 1st round pick defensive lineman Lukas VanNess is unequivocally having his best training camp as he prepares for his third season. When VanNess was drafted, the Packer’s front office projected him to be a project with incredible upside. This is a pivotal year for VanNess to take the next step and become a consistent contributor! His camp so far definitely has the arrow pointing up!
Time to wrap up speculation and pontification! Time to get to the regular season! The Pack opens with two tough opponents in the Lions and Commanders to start the season. Let’s hope the team is 1-1 or 2-0 out of these first two contests! That’s One Fan’s Opinion! Go Pack Go!
