New Name, Location, and Expanding Services for Older Adults
The Thompson Center on Lourdes (TCoL) is preparing for an exciting new chapter. In June 2025, the organization will move to a larger, modern facility at 3000 E. College Ave., Appleton, WI 54915. With this transition, TCoL will also take on a new name: The Mary Beth Nienhaus Activity Center, honoring the generosity and support of longtime community advocate Mary Beth Nienhaus.
For years, TCoL, has provided older adults in the Fox Valley with opportunities to stay active, engaged, and socially connected. The move to a larger facility will allow for expanded programming, improved accessibility, and an even greater impact on the community.

“Our mission is to create a welcoming place where older adults can participate in meaningful activities, form friendships, and maintain their independence,” said Executive Director Dawn Gohlke. “This new location gives us the opportunity to grow and serve more people than ever before.”
With a focus on wellness, lifelong learning, and social engagement, TCoL offers a variety of programs, including fitness classes, educational workshops, social events, and volunteer opportunities. The new space will allow for an even wider range of activities and services to support healthy aging.
