The following is an update of the Grand Chute Ambulance Service provided by Fire Chief Steve Denzien which began January 1st. As of 1-21-25, year-to-date, the new Grand Chute Ambulance Service has had 164 ambulance calls, 84 for Station 2 (2692), 70 for Station 1 (2691), and 10 for (2693). 146/164 were transported to the hospital. In 2024, year-to-date EMS responses were 135. There were no mutual aid ambulance requests in or out of Grand Chute. Total responses year-to-date in 2025 is 238. In 2024, year-to-date was 179. Which is 59 more runs this year with a 33% increase.
As for department morale: I had individual conversations with 95% of the members and they were all positive about the adventure. The membership is excited and very happy to serve the residents. This is a service that they have wanted to do for years and they have definitely raised the quality of care in the Town. There is more consistency of care and more care procedures being performed.
One of the crowning calls so far was a male patient returning home from having a procedure at the hospital, who was having difficulty breathing. The patient’s wife called 911 and his symptoms worsened while we were responding. Crews arrived on scene, rapidly assessed and treated the patient, put him into the back of the ambulance and transported. From arrival on scene to arrival at the hospital, was 16 minutes. As we arrived on scene, the patient was going into respiratory failure and further treatment was provided to the patient. He ended up going home several days later.
The feedback from the hospitals is that they are pleased with our services and treatments and very happy we are doing this. There was a comment that there has never been this many pre-hospital procedures occurring before. The relationships are building and things are going well!
