Happy Football season! We are underway! At the time of this writing, the Packers have started the season with a 1-1 record on two road games to open the season.
By the sounds of most of the local public, you might think the Packers were 0-2 and had been blown out by 40 points in both games! Have the Packers looked like greased lightning so far? Well, no. But, in listening around town these days, it sure seems a lot worse then 1-1 in a pair of road games to start!
One of the great locals analysts for the Packers, Aaron Nagler has a phrase that we often need to remind ourselves of. Quite simply, it goes like this: ‘Lot of ball game left.’ The NFL’s 17 game season spans into January! That’s a long, long ways from now. The Packers will have plenty of ups and downs between now and January!
I would also encourage fans to remember where the Packers belong in your perspective within your life! Watching sports is meant to be a diversion! It’s a diversion from the stresses of your work life. It’s a diversion from health issues going on in your life! It’s a diversion from anxiety you may have in some aspect of your life.
During the game, do we all have many nail biting moments? Absolutely! But, in the big picture, remember, your weekly appointment for watching Packers’ football should be a diversion of enjoyment! Enjoy the bonding time spent with family and friends! Enjoy the unbelievable athleticism exhibited by these young men! Blink twice and the season will be over! So, simply enjoy the season game by game before its slipped past you! Not going to lie. Plenty of times, I need to give myself the perspective reminder I just described!
Through 2 games of 17, are the Packers looking like a Super Bowl team so far? Oh heck no! But, there are sprouts everywhere of ascending players showing significant growth! The team has a long ways to go to be playing at an elite level. But, I still like a lot of the talent on this team! And,…(thanks Mr. Nagler for this reminder)…’there’s a lot of ball game left’! Try to enjoy it along the way!
Go Pack Go!
